Holiday Gallery 2011

Sleeping Beauty.

I wanted to do something inspired by A. N. Roquelaure 's (aka Anne Rice) Sleeping Beauty Trilogy. If you haven't read them yet (I'm guessing that most of the people reading this blog already have read these books.....), be sure to order them off of Amazon. The Trilogy is a bondage and discipline classic!

I also wanted to do something completely DIFFERENT so I thought that I'd create a very Grimm photo shoot for Christmas.

Sleeping Beauty is the perfect metaphor for awakening and enlightenment whether it's sexual, emotional, spiritual, or psychological. As a bondage icon, the signifigance of this folktale is brutally obvious.

Anne Rice, Italian and Scandinavian horror films, catholic panic, tombs, saints, wax figures, dolls, Russian fantasy movies, treasures, bisexuality, disguises, manipulation, desire, fairy tales, the supernatural, etc., etc., etc. all went into this strange, experimental Renaissance/Victorian/Postmodern aesthetic.

I said "Let's do something really creepy, queasy, cool, and fucked-up" so my friend/muse/model Abra K. Dabra joined me and here are the results which, we agreed, would be what happened if Sophia Coppola got really stoned and bored and had her dad fund a remake of "The Exorcist" for her.

I like this shoot. It's definitely not typical fetish photography, that's for sure, and that's the point. I loved working with a female sub model--I'll have to do that again, definitely. It was a HOT shoot--all those lights and candles, holy smoke, if it looks like we were in Hell then that's what it felt like in there. Abra K. did a great job and put up with that weird mask for a long time and I was exhausted afterward. Not an easy shoot but, clearly, it was worth it.

And now I'm very excited that this Shakespearen-flavored fuckery is over with so that I can go get a haircut in Boystown. I've got my appointment for tomorrow.
